Founded in 1973, SACNAS is a society of scientists dedicated to fostering the success of scientists belonging to underrepresented groups from college students to professionals in attaining advanced degrees, careers, and positions of leadership.
DePaul University chapter supports students of all backgrounds in the pursuit of careers within the STEM fields. Our membership currently consists of over 90 undergraduate and graduate students, 1 faculty advisor (Dr. Jesus Pando) and 1 staff advisor (Rhonda Harley). We collaborate with local Chicago chapters, including Northern Illinois University, Northwestern Illinois University, and Northeastern Illinois University to facilitate a speaker series. DeSACNAS members are dedicated to giving back through outreach programs to local high school tutoring programs, peer networks, professional development and engaging in scientific research. The organization and its members are committed to encouraging minority students and scientists to advance to their utmost capability.
